Lovethychildren asks the question: I am finalizing things with my fathers estate. I was wondering what the executors fees are for Ohio? Does the fee come from the total estate including the home even if you do not make any profit off the home or is it what is left after everything is paid for (meaning the final balance of the estate account)
Also when we met with the attorney he told us that the courts figure in his fee. Does he get a certain percentage as well of the final estate?
Thanks!
Answer:Yes, most are statutory fees, standard fees according to a percentage of the estate, much the same as a real estate agent is paid for the sale of a home. Ask your attorney for those specifics in your case, he is obligated to tell you and it should be included in your documents. All of this should be explained to you by the attorney, it’s his job and what he is being paid to do.(Law & Ethics)
